This is my third or fourth different item from Shi-Zen. I keep coming back because of the quality of craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and their spirit of supporting tradition in today’s convenience obsessed world. Now, to the actual review! The brass holder and volcanic rock base are stunning. Their circular nature and complimentary beauty are a meditation in itself. As for the candles, I could not believe how clean burning they are. The flame grows steadily allowing a building focus. As you approach the end of the burn, you are reminded of impermanence as the flame slowly recedes and the wick burns out. Very little (if any) wax is left at the end and the wick husk is easily removed. I’ve burned multiple candles without needing to clean anything. I purchased the 10, 20, and 30 minute lengths.
